The Widow
As I was scrolling through my Facebook page tonight (putting off reading my new book) I came across something that left me absolutely SPEECHLESS.......

A while back I snooped on a widow from my community via facebook. She was inquiring about the price for gravel. Her driveway, she explained, was a mess and so muddy she could no longer drive through it at times. When the young man she was inquiring of gave her the price she responded that she wouldn't be able to afford it. That broke my heart and I began putting myself in her shoes.
She has been a widow for as long as I can remember, 33 years at least. No one to hold hands with, laugh with, cry with, no one to come home to after a long day. How hard a life that must be! When I thought back to all the times I had seen her she was solemn. She was always pleasant but she never seemed joyful.
I wanted to help her with her driveway. I didn't have the money but I knew the one who did. I prayed that if I needed to help her that God would allow me the financial means of paying to have her driveway repaired. I knew if it was God's will he would make a way. I also prayed that if it wasn't against God's will and she truly needed a help mate that God would send her one and she would be married. I prayed that prayer and went back to everything I was trying to accomplish in my own life.

A month or more passed and again I was on Facebook, scrolling through my feed. There she was! Hand in hand, being joined together in marriage with the happiest smile I had ever seen on her face. She was joyful! She was happy! My mind drifted back to that day I had prayed and I was happy but I also was sick at my stomach. I felt sick because I realized the power I have with prayer and I take it for granted! I don't sympathize, love, pity, or pray for others just like this widow enough! How many people through the power of prayer could I help if only I took the time??? If only I stopped to look outside of myself???
LORD FORGIVE ME!!!!
